Another boring day in Virginia

Well my husband woke up this morning at 6 a.m. to drop off a load that was going to be unloaded “live”. We had a whole trailer full of boxes of tampons, of all things right. Anyways since they were light we figured the most they could take was 3 hours to unload, faster if they had a pallet jack. Well we were there until 2:00 p.m. It was completely boring since I wasn’t in the mood to be online, and our XM radio just repeats the same old songs all day long, which it drives me crazy. So I woke up at 8:00 a.m and decided to rest at around 12 noon, and when I woke up it was 2:00 and my husband was about to leavE. It’s awkward to me because I don’t sleep during the day, because the sunlight bothers me, so I was just more groggy and tired than before.

After that it was time to drop this load (empty) at a place for boxed trailers, the ones they use on trains, and head to Wrangler, and pick up 20,000 pounds there. Well as I am reading the directions we pass a small antique town with old buildings, I felt llike I could just get off the truck and hop on the buildings. Well then it tells us to turn here and turn there and we are going up and around the mountain nascar style. It was a little scary but we got through it, and picked up the trailer.

So now we are on our way to deliver this load of Wranglers in Ft. Pierce Florida then headed home for some rest and to go and take care of things I can’t do on the laptop.

Again I took pictures but I can’t post them until I get one og those USB thingies when I go home and if hopefully I remember!

Home sick! I miss Florida :-(

I was pondering and thinking last night while trying to go to sleep, how much I miss my home, well having a home. It has been a total of 3 months on the road with my husband, and I miss other things that I used to take for granted.

I miss going to my home after a long day’s work and taking a shower, or going home to plop on the couch and watch the latest reality show. I am so addicted to them shows.

I miss having weekend barbeques and having all my friends over, and just partying all night long.

I miss my Italian king sized bed!!

I miss making dinner with my husband and eating together on the table.

I miss blasting the music loud and cleaning the house to the music.

I miss the sunshine and heat, I don’t like the cold and even though I try and get used to it I am not able to.

There are alot of other things I miss but these are the most important to me. Now don’t get me wrong I love being on the road also and now knowing where we are going next. I love taking pictures of nature and the beauty that most people don’t ever see or don’t stop to look at, but there is still apart of me that like a routine.

I would have never imagined that I would be traveling or seeing the things that I do or even imagine all that we have gone through me being with him, not including what he has seen by himself but you really don’t know what you have until one day it isn’t there.

I am already used to the routine of traveling and sleeping on a twin bed and other things that drivers do daily because it’s how they live, but I still miss home. Of course the only thing I don’t miss is the crime over there. Well that’s just a whole other post I will write about,.

Does anyone remember this song?

I learned this song in private school and was taking a break and at the same time charging my phone and since I was charging it I turned off my satellite radio.

Skinamarink

Skinamarinka dinky dink
Skinamarinka doo,
I love you

Skinamarinky dinky dink
Skinamarink a doo,
I love you

I love you in the morning
and in the afternoon,
I love you in the evening
and underneath the moon!

So, Skinamarinka dinky dink
Skinamarink a doo,
I love you and you and you
and you and you and you and
YOU!

I remembered it but in pieces so I looked it up online and found it. I just remember when I was in school using a sock on my arm and that was suppose to be skinamarinka and singing. It was kinda silly now that I look back but hey all kids love silly songs.

My pet peeves of drivers out there!

First I refer to these pet peeves not because I am in a truck all day but just in general and some of course refer to also being in a truck. If you don’t know a pet peeve is something that bothers you extremely in example I don’t like when a fork scratches a plate, or when you scratch fingernails across a chalkboard or jeans, so below I will write about ones I have with drivers.

First, why do cars get off a ramp or cut in front of you in a lane and go slow. I mean sometimes we are going 65 in our lane and someone cuts in front of us and goes about 45 mph, thus causing us to slow down and try and regain strength.

Second, Why do cars plaster 100 different types of bumper stickers, with I love kangaroos, or I play soccer, nobody really cares what you like or that your kid is an honor roll student. Now don’t get me wrong, If I ever have a child in the honor roll I would tell everyone or at least put the bumper sticker on the back window without taking the sticky out.

Third, Cars cut in front of you and don’t put a signal light. My guess is that the cars come optional with signal lights since most don’t use them.

Fourth, Cars don’t put signal light but I know we do and we stay stuck minutes with no avail so in the end we need to push them ever so slightly to get to our exit. Or we have our signal light and instead of speeding up like everyone else does when they see a truck needs to turn, or reduce speed they maintain the same speed , and just get the driver to have to miss their exit or think of another way to get in front of them.

I have more but my hand is getting tired from all my work this morning, so I will write more when I have a chance.

Our day in New Jersey! Just a little scary for me!

Well it all started yesterday when we headed to New Jersey to pick up a load on Paterson Plank road. Let me explain how drivers get their information and directions. Most trucks have a little computer called a Qualcomm system which is similar to the one pictured below. There is where drivers receive thire load information, and directions to all places, mileage, where to fill-up and anything else that a dispatcher needs to communicate with the driver. Well after we dropped a load in Connecticut we had to go to New Jersey to Paterson Plank road, make a couple more turns then we would be at the location to pick up an empty trailer.

Well what the directions don’t tell you which this isn’t the first time that Paterson Plank splits, one that goes onto the 1-9 highway and the other goes into a residential area. The last time we came we turned onto the 1-9 highway, went around a circle and ended up in a residential area, and this time we didn’t want to do that. We decided to go straight and see but then we saw houses and we turned onto another street that happened to also say what would know the one and only Paterson Plank.

Well as luck should have it we follow this supposed Paterson Plank and on the way pass another road named Paterson Plank road intersecting the one we are now. So in a total we passed about 4 Paterson Plank roads and never found the place since we ended up again in a residential area, which when we decided to forget about the empty trailer and just go and pickup one from the next location.

Well that was yesterday. We then spent the night at service area and geared for today. Well I couldn’t just get up this morning since I didn’t sleep at all at night, and decided to sleep in while my husband drives to pickup to loads from two different locations. Well When I woke up we were already at location one and just about done. When we left the company gave up directions to the second location. First it said turn right on Anveil road, which had an underpass or bridge, I always get those things confused.

There was a sign stating that it was 13 feet 3 inches high and the truck and trailer is 13 feet and 6 inches high. Oh what to do, we were completly baffled and dumfounded on what to do. Well we started to look for another route and looking for ways to turn around when this guy stopped in the middle of the road and he told us he was a truck driver, and that it was exactly 13’6. He promised and offered to help and to even take his tag number for any reason, and at that very moment we saw a truck passing by of course oblivious to the sign or that he could possible rip off the top of his truck and he went but exactly.

We thanked the man and we were on our way to the next location about 20 miles away. We get tio other location and this location is about 75 to 80 feet long and as you know a trailer with truck is 73 feet long, which doesn’t give you much to move and back up. Anyways no problem there just wanted to mention it. After waiting to be live unloaded hours later we were on our way. Welll when we turned onto the road that was supposed to take us to the New Jersey turnpike where we encounter another bridge this one stating 12’6, and again we are 13’6. Well again after some time and deciding to just reverese all the way to the intersection to turn around another man assured us it was 13’6. Well another scare we passed like at 5 miles an hour under that bridge so that if were to tall we would here the roof of the truck scrape and break, so during these few seconds I practically ha my heart in my hand but we finally made it through.

The whole point is that New Jersey needs to take some tax money and invest in putting signs on all roads not just every other one and change all the bridge clearances and put them up to date. We have gone through many states with no signs. I have got to admit that Florida has the best signs on all roads and they are illuminated at night but by worst New Jersey is not a place you want to get lost in especially with a truck!!!

We also saw the Giant’s Stadium in New Jersey!!!

We are headed now to South Carolina, then hopefully home to Florida, I might have to get surgery for gallstones so stay tuned to see if I do.

More words of wisdom

In order for “THINGS” in your life to change, YOU have to change. Don’t go around wishing things would get better. Wish that YOU would get better. Don’t wish for less problems, wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenge, wish for more wisdom. Accept a challenge, because you can’t grow without a challenge. You can’t get rich without a challenge, just like you can’t fly without gravity. Just develop wisdom to overcome the challenge

This was also something I found on another forum.

The tongue can be your worst enemy!

THE TONGUE CAN BE YOUR WORSE ENEMY!

Your words, your dreams, and your thoughts have power to create conditions
In your life. What you speak about, you can bring about.

If you keep saying you can’t stand your job, you might lose your job.

If you keep saying you can’t stand your body, your body can become sick.

If you keep saying you can’t stand your car, your car could be stolen or
Just stop operating.

If you keep saying you’re broke, guess what? You’ll always be broke.

If you keep saying you can’t trust a man or trust a woman, you will always
Find someone in your life to hurt and betray you.

If you keep saying you can’t find a job, you will remain unemployed.

If you keep saying you can’t find someone to love you or believe in you,
You’re very thought will attract more experiences to confirm your beliefs.

If you keep talking about a divorce or break up in a relationship,
Then you
Might end up with it.

Turn your thoughts and conversations around to be more positive and power
Packed with faith, hope, love and action.

Don’t be afraid to believe that you can have what you want and deserve.

Watch your Thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your Habits, they become character.
Watch your Character, for it becomes your Destiny

The minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you
Settle for.

Thought I would share this with you. “In the search for me, I discovered
Truth. In the search for truth, I discovered love. In the search for love,
I discovered God. And in God, I have found everything

I saw this on a forum and I had to share it with everyone!!

Interesting places I have seen so far!

Here are some things or places that I have seen that I haven’t seen in Florida where I live.

Hobby Lobby — craft store similar to Michaels

KFC Buffet — buffet inside the restaurant, which I went to in Chicago

Sears Grande — Sears with a pharmacy and photo, I am not sure if it sells food.

Bojangles — restaurant thats similar to KFC that sells chicken

Subway Drive-thru — has a drive-thru which I haven’t seen anywhere else but in New York

Sears Tower — located in Chicago, didn’t go in but saw it on the Interstate

Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel — almost 20 miles long which runs through Virginia beach. It has plenty of scenery in which we saw dolhpins, and went underwater in the tunnel. Grea experience.

Gateway Arch — located in St. Louis Missouri it weighs 43,000 tons and took two years to build, and is 630 feet in height.

The Pyramid Arena — located in Memphis Tennessee, it can hold up to 21,000 people and it made of stainless steel. It is also the third largest pyramid in the world.

Mall of America — located in Minnesota, it’s the second largest mall globally, and has an amusement park, museum, aquarium, and has around 520 stores, and other things include a movie theatre, and wedding chapel just to name some.

Well those are just some of things the things I ave seen so far, and to date 29 states we have gone too. When I remember more I will post more.

Racism on Perezhilton.com

Well I have got to admit that I am a fanatic of celebrity gossip, and when I am not busy I am online checking celebrity gossip sites in which Perez Hilton falls in that catagory. Most of the time I just look at pictures and headlines, but today I decided to check the comments on certain topics, in which one caught my eye in particular.

I decided to check what PerezHilton had to say about the actress America Ferrera. Now I know he is known for is bashing of celebrities and adding his own comments but I sure didn’t see any with her. I also had heard in recent coverage that a congresswoman in California had went and applauded her for her outstanding work on her hit show Ugly Betty, and was proud that her character was helping to break down stereotypes against latin women.

First this isn’t usually on the topic agenda in Congress but to this woman it was as to me it means a great deal to her and others. Well I started reading what others had to say just expecting to hear kudos for her work, or for her sincere speech she gave when she received the Golden Globe, well that’s not what I saw!

I saw comments of racism and hate, things that had nothing to do with the subject. Just seeing these hateful words and what people say about others hurt, but not necessiarily me butjust to see what this world has come to. It’s no surprise that there is racism in this world but sometimes you try not to make it seem so bad, but when you read it in your own words you can’t do anything but gawk at the reality

Now I am no stranger to racism or to stereotypes because I see it everyday and I was hurt with cruel words in school. I had old co-workers that were racist and jealous, I even had a co-worker that her entire family and in-laws were racist. They were rasing their children racist and even called african american children “niglets”. Yes I know it hurts and those are things that should never be said or even thought of but the truth is that it is plastered everywhere. It is on the media, the radio, people, online, everywhere. The question is what can we do to stop all this!!

Now never in out lifetime will we see the end of racism or hate, or ever see Martin Luther King’s dream come true, but we can help to improve it. If there is something you think about someone else or about a current situation don’t call that person names or try to offend them. Do you remember the saying that “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me” it’s a lie to me, because words DO hurt and deeply. Often times they leave permanent marks on a person’s soul or conscience, and in result that person is never the same.

Try your best and try not to say hurtful things, because you wouldn’t want someone to say hurtful things to you or offend you so don’t do it!! Together we can slow down the racism in America!!
